Admission
Advanced registration using the Akademie Online-System is necessary once the entrance examination has been passed or following admission as a non-degree student.
Documents required:
- A valid travel document or proof of citizenship together with anĀ official photo-ID
- Graduation diploma/school-leaving certificate or last report card (plus a photocopy which will remain on file at the university) or proof of the qualification required for the chosen study program
- Two photos
- Leaving certificate (if transferring from another Austrian university)
- Proof of social security number (Austrian applicants only)
All documents must be presented in the original or as officially notarized copies made by the relevant authorities in the country of origin and re-notarized by Austrian diplomatic representatives. Documents in a foreign language must be accompanied by a German translation. Translations done in a foreign country must also be notarized and authenticated by the local Austrian diplomatic representatives.
Translations made by sworn translators in Austria require no further notarization. If there are treaties in place guaranteeing Austria's recognition of official certificates from the issuing state, no further notarization is required. Except in the aforementioned cases in which notarization is unnecessary, any documents issued by signatory states of the Hague Apostille Convention can be notarized simply by the appendage of an apostille by the relevant authorities in the country of origin.
In addition to passing the entrance examination, applicants for an Education in the Arts program or the bachelor's program in Architecture must also furnish proof of the authenticity and validity of an equivalent school-leaving certificate/graduation diploma as well as admission to an equivalent study program or to the continuation of such a study program in the country of origin.
In addition to passing the entrance examination, applicants for the master's program in Architecture must furnish proof of their completion of a bachelor's program in Architecture or the equivalent.
To ensure compliance with the law on resident aliens, all foreign applicants must contact Austrian diplomatic representatives in their country of origin in good time.
