  • the theatrical release of Sugarland, a film by Isabella Brunäcker, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in 2024. Brunäcker received the Birgit Jürgenssen Prize in 2019. For the film Sugarland, she was awarded the Kodak Analog Film Prize at the Diagonale 2025.

Joint exhibition with AVU and ÖKF in Prague

The Academy of Fine Arts Vienna is delighted to present the exhibition Margins of the Visible this fall, together with the Academy of Fine Arts Prague, the Austrian Cultural Forum Prague, and the BMWKMS. Following a successful Erasmus+ exchange of staff from the two universities in May of this year, the exhibition represents a further step in this close collaboration.

SPOT Exchange: New Residency in Riga, Latvia

We are excited to introduce SPOT Exchange; a new initiative aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and Latvia’s academic and non-academic art institutions. SPOT Exchange is a residency program dedicated to supporting the professional development of emerging artists and curators from both countries. By bridging higher education with professional practice, the program connects participants to new networks, artistic communities, and career opportunities.

Ars Docendi: Recognition Award for Jasmin Hammer and Otto Krause

This year's Recognition Award in the Research-Related and Art-Led Teaching category went to Jasmin Hammer and Otto Krause from the Study program Scenography at the Institute of Art and Architecture. Our warmest congratulations to both of them!
