The following position at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna is advertised:

Technical Assistant | FWF Project

full-time employment on a limited contract until 30 September 2025, starting 1 October 2022 the earliest

The position is to be filled at the Institute for Science and Technology of the Arts within the FWF research project "Synergetic Interaction of Writing Materials" dealing with the degradation of medieval manuscripts. The project’s main focus is on non-invasive spectroscopic analysis of collagen-based objects and writing material.

Areas of responsibility

  • The technical assistant is particularly responsible for sample preparation and for conducting non-invasive analyses (e.g. Raman, IR, UV-VIS).

Conditions of employment

  • completed education at a chemical or technical college or HTL

Desired qualifications

  • technical-chemical basic knowledge
  • practical experience in independent laboratory work, e.g. use of basic instruments, preparation of buffer solutions, etc.
  • experience with Raman spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), colorimetry, data processing
  • good English and IT skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint), knowledge of Origin Pro and MATLAB are of advantage
  • gender- and discrimination-critical competence

The monthly gross salary according to the collective agreement for university employees in salary group IIIa currently amounts to Euro 2,210.20.
