Anna Hirschmann

Anna Hirschmann, * 1982, studied visual communication in Hamburg and in the art and film class at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with Thomas Heise. She lives and works as a filmmaker and theater dramaturge in Vienna. In 2015 she wrote texts for the book Wer geht leer aus? Plädoyer für eine andere Leerstandspolitik (IG Kultur Wien & monochrom, 2015). From 2014 to 2017 she worked as a production assistant for a feature documentary ( Das Fieber R Katharina Weingartner) and in the 2019/2020 season as dramaturge and production manager at the Schauspielhaus Wien. In 2018 and 2019 she designed video content for the smallest theater of the world ( #3 murder R Jesse Inman) and the Volksoper Wien ( Powder Her Face R Martin G. Berger). In 2020 she wrote together with the theater maker Marie-Christin Rissinger U.G.A.I. Hört die Signale! (UA Steirischer Herbst 2020) and presented her first documentary titled Helgas Freiheit und die Waschmaschine (40min) in 2021. As part of the BMKÖS film art start-up grant, Anna Hirschmann is currently developing a feature film on the subject of fatigue.
