Evaluation Akademie geht in die Schule (AgidS)

The coordination office Akademie geht in die Schule (AgidS) was set up in 2013 on the personal initiative of several people at the Academy. The project was initially supported from University Structural Funds by the BMBWF for a five-year period. After the end of the project, the AgidS coordination office could be permanently installed at the Academy. It is overseen and supported by an internal working group of the Academy. AgidS pursues several closely linked objectives: On the one hand, the activities are aimed to indicate to people currently underrepresented at the Academy paths to studying at the Academy and to remove obstacles in their way. On the other, it is a matter of further education for Academy employees in the areas of anti-racism, diversity awareness, and intersectionality and to establish structures at the academy that are as discrimination-free as possible. The long-term goal is to reduce education inequality at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

The Quality Development Department is currently conducting an evaluation of AgidS . The process is conceived in close consultation with everybody involved and focuses on their specific issues and interests. Central questions are, among others:

  • What impact did and do AgidS activities have both on target groups and the Academy as an institution?
  • What memories, experiences, and expectations are AgidS measures associated with in target groups?
  • What are the long-term effects of AgidS within the Academy – with respect to structures, awareness, actions?
  • What ways for the best possible further development of AgidS can be identified?

The methodological design of the evaluation is informed by a mixed-methods approach and focuses both on AgidS target groups as well as internal structures of the Academy.
