Terese Kasalicky (* 1988) dedicates her practice to exploring ornamental structures which she interprets as information carriers of cultural history. Individual elemental forms, which the artist has extrapolated, reoccur in various arrangements within her works like words in a sentence. They form relations and thus a new “syntax” and – stripped of their original context – extend into the space as sculptures. For her solo exhibition at Eschenbachgasse the artist plans an expansive installation which at the same time offers insight into her production process, which shows distinct parallels to the principles behind Aby Warburg’s Mnemosyne Atlas.
