CONGRATULATION: PEEK-FUNDING FOR PROJECT "CONSERVED MEMORIES"

The project "Conserved Memories - History making in Austria told in Stories and Pictures", lead by Elisabeth von Samsonow (IKW), has right now been selected for funding within the PEEK-Programm of the Austrian Science Fund. "Conserved Memories" aims at analysing various processes of memory politics in Austria from different perspectives and backgrounds. It is based on the results of the ongoing PEEK-project "MemScreen", running from 2011 to 2013. Congratulations to the team! We are looking forward to your results!

CONGRATULATION: RALO MAYER WINS OTTO MAUER PRIZE

Congratulations to Ralo Mayer, who studied at the Academy at the conceptual art class of Renée Green and Marina Gržinić for winning this year's Otto Mauer Prize. See his work exhibited in the JesuitenFoyer, Bäckerstraße 18, 1010 Vienna until 20 January 2013.

CALL: POSTER COMPETITION BY THE WORKING COMMITTEE FOR EQUAL TREATMENT

The Working Committee for Equal Treatment is announcing a poster competition for the renewal of its information brochure for students. The competion is adressed to students of the academy and endowed with prize money of 700 Euro. There are no specifications about the content of the poster. Formal requirements are: no originals, no digital submission, hardcopy in A3, paper at least 100 g/qm.

CALL: 6th ELIA TEACHERS' ACADEMY 2013

The European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA) announces the 6th ELIA Teachers' Academy, hosted by the Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU). The Teachers' Academy will be held in Utrecht and Amsterdam, The Netherlands from 24 - 26 June 2013. Colleagues from ELIA member institutions from all art disciplines are invited to contribute to the programme and to presentations, papers, workshops and pecha kucha's. The working language of the ELIA Teachers' Academy will be English.

CALL: JOINT PROJECTS AUSTRIA - FRANCE 2013

The Austrian Science fund has established a bi-lateral cooperation agreement with the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR). The call for Austrian-French basic research projects is now open. Proposals have to be submitted to ANR and will be processed and reviewed according to the Lead Agency agreement.

CALL: BIRGIT-JÜRGENSSEN PRIZE 2013

Students of the the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, especially with focus on media (photography / video / media) are eligible to submit. Prize money is 3,000 €. CALL: COMPETITION FOR "SUB AUSPICIIS PRAESIDENTIS" RING DESIGN

The Federal Ministry of Science and Research, Austria is accepting submissions for a new "sub auspiciis Praesidentis" ring design. Students of the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the University of Art and Design Linz and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna are eligible to enter the competition. Required material is gold, the ring has to show the coatofarmsofAustria and the words "sub auspiciis Praesidentis", it has to be produced in series. Prize money ranges between 500 and 2,000 €. Submissions are handled by Martina Dattes at the Vice-Rectorate for Art | Research.

CALL: JOHANNA DOHNAL AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS 2013

Female students and graduates of Austrian higher education institutions and universities may apply for Johanna Dohnal Awards, if their diploma thesis or dissertation (no matter at what stage) is promoting gender equality. The Johanna Dohnal Scholarship particularly addresses female doctoral candidates.

CALL: PAUL CELAN FELLOWSHIPS FOR TRANSLATORS 2013/14

The Paul Celan Fellowship Program of IWM (Institute for Human Sciences) and ERSTE Foundation supports translations from Eastern to Western, Western to Eastern, or between two Eastern European languages of canonical texts and contemporary key works in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Studies. Special emphasis is put on translations of relevant works written by East European authors and/or by female scholars. A thematic relation to one of the research fields of the IWM is likewise welcomed.

Paul Celan Visiting Fellows are invited to spend three to six months at the IWM and receive a monthly stipend in the amount of 2,050 € to cover all expenses related to the stay in Vienna.

CALL: WALTER KOSCHATZKY ART-AWARD 2013

The Walter Koschatzky Art-Award 2013 invites artists aged 35 years or younger (cut-off date 1 June 2013) to submit their works on paper. The contest encompasses the full range of artistic creativity, any theme may be chosen. Participants have to submit three works, submission is handled online only. The 1st prize is 6,000 €, in addition award-winning works will be purchased for 1,000 € each and become part of the collection of the organizer.

CALL: REDESIGN+ AWARD 2013

The competition is looking for ideas and designs involving waste products (redesigns) in the categories Mobility & Public Space, Household & Domestic Life, Accessories & Give-aways, Jewellery & Fashion. Employed and self-employed professional designers and design students in the European Union are invited to submit their unrealized designs.Prize money for each category is 1,000 €.

CALL: BADER PRIZE FOR ART HISTORY

The Bader Prize for Art History is awarded to young, highly qualified doctoral candidates (up to 32 years) as well as to researchers already holding a doctoral degree (up to 40 years), who are doing research on painting and drawing between 1500 and 1750. Winners will be selected by ÖAW on the basis of an international peer-review. Prize money is up to 18,000 Dollar.

CALL FOR PAPERS: MIGRATION AND URBANITY

The 13th International Conference "Migration and Urbanity" seeks to look at the relation between migration and urbanity from an array of different disciplinary perspectives as well as different contexts. The conference is scheduled for 13 - 15 June 2013 in Basle, Switzerland. If you are interested to present your perspective, you are invited to submit an abstract of max. 500 words. Conference languages are German and English.

CALL FOR PAPERS: SOCIOLOGY OF THE ARTS AT ESA-CONFERENCE

The European Sociological Association will hold its next general conference from 28 to 31 August

2013 in Torino, Italy. The general theme of the conference will be "Crisis, Critique and Change". One of the research networks there is focusing on the attitude of the arts towards contemporary issues. The organiser now invites experienced and young scholars from various disciplines, who are sensitive to social inquiries into the arts to submit their abstracts in a broad range of topics. Additionally there will be a joint session on creative practice.
