CONGRATULATION: BIRGIT-JÜRGENSSEN-PRIZE FOR ANTOINETTE ZWIRCHMAYR

Congratulations to Antoinette Zwirchmayr who won the Birgit-Jürgenssen-Prize 2013. The prize is given each year to students of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna for special outstanding media works.

The award ceremony and book presentation (10 years anniversary of the prize) takes place on 11 April, 6 p.m. at the Academy's Auditorium.

CONGRATULATION: ROLAND PRIZE FOR ART 2013 FOR MONICA BONVICINI

Since 1990 the Roland Prize for Public Art is awarded every three years by the foundation Bremen Sculptor Prize. The prize is given to artists whose works for art in public space are opening new thinking and action fields for public art. The Roland Prize for Public Art 2013 goes to Monica Bonvicini! Congratulations!

CALL: WORKSHOP GRANTS AT WEI SRAUM INNSBRUCK

CALL: 17ZWEI - PROPOSALS FOR ART IN PUBLIC SPACE

17ZWEI welcome professional artists and artist groups to submit a proposal for a two dimensional artwork (size 16 m x 2.15 m) which will be - printed on truck tarp - publicly displayed for 4 - 6 weeks in a highly frequented underpass in Zurich's (Switzerland) new business district. Applications should include: contact information, CV, artist portfolio (5 works not older than 5 years), project proposal (max. 500 words) and a visual sketch. CALL: PHAENOMENALE - SOCIAL MEDIA ART AWARD

For the first time the Science & Art-Festival Phaenomenale awards an artist in the category Social Media Art. The award ceremony takes place during the Phaenomenale Festival (12 - 15 September 2013) in Wolfsburg, Germany. Donation: 10,000 Euro.

CALL: EUROPEAN FORUM ALPBACH - SCIENCE SLAM "SUSTAINABLE CITIES"

The European Forum Alpbach invites young scientists to take part in a Science Slam on "Sustainable Cities" at the Built Environment Symposium from 29 to 30 August, 2013. Innovative ideas on urban sustainability should be presented according to the Science Slam rules: 8 minutes for the presentation (a max. of 3 power point slides, if needed). In order to take part, send your CV and a brief exposé (250-300 words, PDF format) to the European Forum Alpbach.

CALL: EUROPEAN FORUM ALPBACH - SCHOLARSHIPS

In 2013, the European Forum Alpbach will deal with "Experiences and Values". From August 12 to 31, 4,000 people from over 60 countries will once again come to the Tyrolian mountain village of Alpbach to discuss and explore current issues in the interdisciplinary setting of this conference. To enable young people to share in this experience, scholarships for students and recent graduates are offered.

CALL: EUROPEAN FORUM ALPBACH - PERSPECTIVE CLOSING DISCUSSION

The Closing Discussion of the Alpbach Perspectives will take place on August 21, 2013. The European Forum Alpbach invites participants (aged between 18 and 30) to contribute to an important discussion on Europe's future by presenting their personal story. High-ranking Austrian and European politicians will also be part of the panel.

CALL: PROJECT FINANCING FOR STUDENTS OF THE ACADEMY


The Rectorate of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna provides financial support for projects carried out in the Summer semester 2013. Due to the cancelation of tuition fees, financial support can be given only to graduates for diploma projects. Financial aid is to be used exclusively for material costs (no travel costs). CALL: KÖR - FUNDING OF ART PROJECTS IN PUBLIC SPACE

KÖR Kunst im öffentlichen Raum Wien GmbH is committed to breathing new life into the city of Vienna's public space with permanent or temporary art projects. Its endeavors are aimed at strengthening the identity of the city and of individual neighborhoods in terms of contemporaneity and at reviving public space as an agora - a place of sociopolitical and cultural discussion. Artists (also teams and corporate bodies) of EU countries with a residence in Austria can apply for a funding.

CALL: Ö1 TALENTS GRANT

Ö1 and Bank Austria invite students from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the University of Art and Design Linz and the Mozarteum University Salzburg to apply for this year's grant (10,000 Euro). Applicants have to be enrolled at one of these art universities, in the second or final phase of their studies. CALL: FWF - CAREER DEVELOPMENT FOR FEMALE RESEARCHERS

The FWF is offering extremely well qualified female scientists of all disciplines who are working towards a career in universities the chance of a two-stage funding for a total of six years. The career development programme for female scientists is divided into the Hertha-Firnberg Programme for post-docs, which aims to support women at the start of their scientific careers, and the Elise Richter Programme for senior post-docs, which aims at providing scientists with the necessary qualifications (i.e. habilitation) to apply for professorial positions within Austria or abroad.

CALL: JOINT PROJECTS AUSTRIA - ARGENTINA 2013

The Austrian Science fund has established a bi-lateral cooperation agreement with the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET). The call for joint research projects in the field of basic research, including Social Sciences and Humanities, is now open. Applicants from

Argentina and from Austria apply for their respective project parts at their country's funding organisation.

CALL: ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE GRANTS 2014

In cooperation with KulturKontakt Austria, the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, the Arts and Culture makes available 50 residencies in Vienna for the year 2014. This call is open to persons aged max. 35/40 years whose place of residence is outside of Austria. The residencies are available for the following disciplines: visual arts, art photography, video and media art, design, composition, literature and literary translation, contemporary dance and choreography. In addition, art educators and curators are also invited to apply.

CALL: L'ANNUAIRE CONTEMPORAIN - REQUEST FOR "PARADOX" PROPOSALS


L'Annuaire Contemporain is a new quarterly French magazine supporting emerging European creation in the fields of arts and fashion. For every single issue, L'Annuaire Contemporain will make a call for proposals to several European art and fashion schools, in order to publish the best student works within its pages. CALL: WTZ - SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL COOPERATION WITH FRANCE

The current call Scientific and Technological Cooperation with France invites to submit project proposals for 2014-2015. CALL: IFK_SENIOR AND RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS 2014/2015

The current IFK research focus is called "Imaginations of disorder" and refers to the concept of disorder as a metaphor for disintegration, change, and transformation. The IFK currently invites international or national post-doc researchers (Research Fellowships) and senior researchers (Senior Fellowships) to apply for an IFK Fellowship for the academic year 2014/2015.

CALL: PORSCHE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ADVERTISING FILM AWARD

The student award celebrates its 10th anniversary. The two existing categories remain: The classical category for TV, cinema and internet advertisement spots (length max. 90 seconds) and the category comprising formats such as campaigns, branded entertainment, mobile production or trailers (length max. 5 minutes). There is also a jubilee competition for ads in the special category "automobile" (length max. 90 seconds). First category: 4 prizes 3.911 - 911 Euro; second category: 2.356 Euro.
