We still would like to draw your attention to the current call for project proposals within FWF's programme for arts-based research projects (PEEK) with its submission deadline on 24 April 2013. FWF also offers a coaching workshop for applicants, taking place on 25 March 2013.

CONGRATULATION: PHANTOM OF MEMORY | F. DERSCHMIDT AT THE DIAGONALE 2013

"What is memory for? What do we want from it?" asks Ilana Schumeili, poet and Holocaust survivor. Together with Friedemann Derschmidt, Ilana sets out to find new ways of formulating the question of memory. The film "The Phantom of Memory" has been produced within the context of the PEEK project. It will be shown at the Diagonale 2013 on 13 and 14 March. Congratulations!

CALL: PEEK 2013 - ARTS-BASED RESEARCH PROJECTS

The Austrian Science Fund (FWF) currently invites to submit innovative arts-based research projects, i.e. projects in which artistic practice is integral to the inquiry. Project duration may be up to 36 months. All proposals have to be submitted in English and shall include an elaborated project design, referring to the current state of the art and defining clear aims and questions as well as a corresponding arts-based methodology.

FWF again offers a Coaching Workshop for applicants: 25 March 2013, for more information and registration for participation contact FWF (gerit.oberraufner@fwf.ac.at). The participation fee (120 Euro) can be reimbursed by the Academy upon submission of a PEEK proposal.

CALL: MORITZ CSÁKY FELLOWSHIP

This Fellowship is given to a young scientist (Mag., PostDoc) in the humanities, cultural studies or social sciences, not older than 40 years. The call adresses young scientists from the Eastern or South-Eastern neighbouring countries of Austria, who plan a research stay in Austria. The award amounts to 2,200 Euro.

CALL: VEVEY INTERNATIONAL PHOTO AWARD 2013|2014

Festival Images is launching another round of its Vevey International Photo Award. The award is providing a grant up to CHF 40,000 (around 33,000 Euro) in order to bring a photography initiative, that has not been realised yet, to completion. There is also the potential to win other prizes and receive exhibitions proposals at Quai1 or during the Festival Images. The Vevey International Photo Award 2013/2014 is open to all artists, and professional or student photographers. There is free choice of subject matter and genre.

CALL: INTERNATIONAL SUMMER ACADEMY FOR ARTIST-RESEARCHERS

The third International Summer Academy for Artist-researchers - Artistic Research in Depth - will take place in Finland on August 2nd-9th 2013. The aim of the Summer Academy is to discuss in depth participants' doctoral projects within the developing discourses of art practice and research. Doctoral students in academic institutions pursuing practice-based research are invited to submit applications and proposals to the Summer Academy.

CALL: KÜLTÜŘ GEMMA! PROMOTING CITY CULTURE IN VIENNA

kültüř gemma! is a project for promoting city culture in Vienna and migrant art and cultural production. For the year 2013, kültüř gemma! will award four working grants to young migrant cultural producers from all genres, who engage with issues of migration. Applicants have to be under the age of 35. The grants will be awarded for one year, each with 1,000 Euro per month. During this period of time, the submitted proposal is to be realized.

CALL: ARTBITS GALERY - OPEN CALL 2013

The Artbits Open Call 2013 addresses young emerging artists working within the extended field of photography, digitally created, edited and printed art such as 3D-, rendering-, imaging- and vector-art, manipulation of images. The selected artists will be offered the opportunity to show their work at Artbits Galerie in an exhibition (solo or group), lasting one to two months.

CALL: CYCLING AFFAIRS COMPETITION

CALL: GENIUS LOCI WEIMAR COMPETITION

Until 15 April 2013, all interested artists can submit their concept ideas for the Genius Loci Weimar Festival for media art. The three winning projects will be realised with prize money totalling 45,000 Euro, and presented in Weimar, Germany, as part of a festival that will take place from 9 to 11 August 2013.

CALL: APART FELLOWSHIPS

APART is a funding programme managed by the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). CALL: DOC-FELLOWS OF THE AUSTRIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES

The Doctoral Fellowship Programme of the Austrian Academy of Sciences shall enable young, excellent doctoral candidates from all disciplines to carry out their dissertation project within a definable period of time. There is no age limit, but you should only be max. 2 years after completion of the Diplom or Master degree. Furthermore Austrian citizenship or enrolment as a doctoral candidate at an Austrian university is required.

CALL: FELLOWSHIPS OF THE MAX KADE FOUNDATION

The Max Kade Foundation offers fellowships for the promotion of postdoctoral research. These fellowships are intended for young, highly qualified post-docs who have already proved their aptitude for scientific research by completing their doctoral thesis, collaborating in research projects and teaching at universities. The target group of this fellowship programme are candidates who need a research stay in the USA in order to acquire relevant qualifications for their academic career.
