The University Library of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna is open to use by anybody interested.

The books in the holdings are available for use in the reading room or for lending out.

Entitled to borrow books are all persons who are residents of a member state of the European Union.

Young adults under age 16 need a written note of agreement and liability from their parents.

A lending card is needed to loan books. To be issued a lending card, you need to furnish photo identification and your resident registration form.

Books available for use in the reading room only are works published before 1900, large-sized works, general works of reference, particularly valuable works and periodicals.

Photo identification is needed to use particularly valuable works or works published before 1800.

Books that are unavailable at the library of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna or any other public library in Vienna may be delivered from any other domestic or European library through the Interlibrary Loan Service. Please write to: fernleihe@akbild.ac.at
