The B&C Private Foundation will present the Houska Prize in the Higher Education Research and Research & Development in SMEs categories for the 16th time.

The Austrian Science Fund (FWF) is calling on researchers to submit project proposals for research into humanitarian crises such as epidemics and pandemics with a direct reference to the current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic within its existing programmes, but as part of a new fast track procedure.

FWF and its Taiwanese partner organisation MOST (Ministry of Science and Technology) are pleased to announce this year’s call for bilateral Austrian-Taiwanese research projects ("Joint Projects") and joint seminars ("Joint Seminars").

Interested researchers can submit applications to the FWF for stand-alone projects and Lise-Meitner to be funded by the Internet Foundation Austria (IPA) within the framework of its "netidee SCIENCE" initiative. This call is open to basic research proposals that aim to promote the Internet in Austria as well as the technologies and methods necessary for that purpose.

Over the last few years, a previously somewhat abstract finding has become an empirical fact: Democracy is not a given. The rule of law, the separation of powers, freedom of expression, and a commitment to the common good have all lost some of their binding effect even in core democratic countries, and have been relativized, called into question, and restricted.
