In the course of the teacher training program Art and Communication - Art Education, students learn about the artistic-cultural practice and theory. Study foci are contemporary art, everyday culture and pop culture. Multimedia teaching in fields such as animation, drawing comics, photography, graphics, Internet, painting and video is channeled into artistic, cultural and didactic projects throughout this teacher training program, which is offered in close collaboration with the institutes of Fine Arts and Cultural Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Students of Art and Communication receive a great variety of insights into a contemporary art and culture production, and the close connection to the other teacher training programs at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna offers the ideal combination of study fields. Recently, the course also includes Pedagogy, Arts and Culture as part of a pedagogical training at the Institute for Education in the Arts.

Graduates of the teacher training program Art and Communication are qualified to teach at secondary schools but have also gained practical and reflective competence for projects or teaching assignments in the cultural sphere, in knowledge transfer and in othercreative contexts.
