The time after graduation is the time to set course for the future as an artist or as a researcher. The diversity of occupations of our graduates is reflected by our activities in promoting  early stage artists and researchers: While doctoral candidates must  gather research experience, graduates  of artistic studies need practical knowledge about the art business or have to develop competences at presenting and communicating their own work.

The Academy of Fine Arts Vienna would like  to accompany its graduates with a package of measures during this transitional phase from study to work life. These includes the alumni/alumnae exhibitions xposit, events organised by the Center for Doctoral Studies as well as the workshops offered by the Alumni Club of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the Knowledge Transfer Center.

Furthermore, the Vice-Rectorate for Teaching and Promotion of Early Stage Artists/Researchers provides two programs specifically designed for the career start of academic teachers/researchers and of artists. Target-group-specific and practice-based mentoring programmes are one of the main elements of these initiatives.
