The admission examination aims to ascertain whether somebody is sufficiently talented for the central artistic subject. The examination consists of two parts:

Admission examination WS 2020/21:

1st part:

1.  Please hand-write a short text about your motivation for applying for this particular study program (max. one A4 page).

2.  Please submit a portfolio with a selection of you artistic works.

3.  Additional assignment: please find a place, a room, or even somewhere in the city where you live, which is of particular interest to you. Visit this place repeatedly and find out WHY it is so interesting for you; study it (by e.g. measuring, drawing, photographing it, etc.) and make something out of it which is important to YOU (preferably in the form of a model).Use the method AS FOUND: regarding the commonplace under a new light – handling the existing with a willful approach – perceiving something from a more radical perspective)

Submittal of the portfolio and the assignment:

Monday, March 9, 2020  between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Dept. Scenography, Studio Building, 3rd floor, Lehargasse 8, 1060 Vienna

Candidates eligible for the admission examination will find their names on a notice displayed at Lehargasse 8, 1060 Vienna, next to the porter’s lodge on the ground floor, on March 9, 2020, after 8 p.m.

2nd part:

Only for candidates already admitted:

From Tuesday, March 10, 2020, through Thursday, March 12, 2020, from 10 a.m. through 7 p.m., Scenography, 3rd floor, Studio Building, Lehargasse 8, 1060 Vienna

Announcement of candidates admitted: Thursday, March 12, after 8 p.m. on a notice displayed at: Lehargasse 8, 1060 Vienna, next to the porter’s lodge on the ground floor.

Only candidates who pass both parts of the exam will be admitted to studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
