The Academy of Fine Arts Vienna intends to appoint following position:

University Professor
in the department of Craft Education at the Institute for Secondary School Teaching Degrees. This professorship is appointed for a period of 6 years beginning with September 25th 2006 with the possibility of extension.

This professorship at the Institute for Secondary School Teaching Degrees covers the whole professional educational background for students of Secondary School Teaching Degrees in theoretical basics of craft education as well as in the relevant artistic experience. Teaching, theory supported as well as exemplary and practical, aims at the competence to distribute the combination of a shaped environment and its manufactured-technological premises. In addition the discourse regarding everyday culture be shall supported. The scope of distribution of arts and culture shall be expanded to extracurricular areas of application in the near future.

The applicant is expected to have already operated in this field of duties at a high level during his/her previous activities.

Requirements for application:

  • excellent artistic or scientific qualification in the relevant field having special regard to a expanded cultural concept;
  • an appropriate degree of an Austrian or equivalent foreign university;
  • proof of pedagogic and didactic qualities (experience in the tertiary field should be included);
  • willingness to contribute in university agendas and to cooperate with colleagues is implied.

Teaching obligations include in accordance with the appointment of the rectorate lectures, seminars and workshops of at least 6 artistic individual tuition units a week.
