Please check the Academy’s COVID-19 guide for all regulations in detail.

The major regulations for the current state YELLOW are summarized here:

YELLOW = Dual mode

Presence mode and parallel or simultaneous distance mode: Teaching and research as well as general operation are generally carried out at the university. Certain groups of people (e.g. risk groups, international students, etc.) who cannot be present on a regular basis due to COVID-19 prevention measures are offered distance mode.

GENERAL REGULATIONS

  • The 3G rule applies in all buildings or premises of the Academy as well as for outdoor classes: entry to Academy buildings and participation in classes only for tested, recovered or vaccinated persons – this equally applies to students, teachers, administrative staff and guests!
  • Please note that at the start of the semester increased checks will take place in all Academy buildings in order to monitor the 3G rule, the use of FFP2 masks, the minimum distance of 1.5 meters and the number of people present. At the Augasse building, checks will be executed by the University of Vienna when entering the building.
  • Individuals who violate these rules will be warned and banished from the building for the rest of the day. Further violations may result in longer reprimands and, if necessary, consequences under personnel law.
  • The following options are regarded as proof of low epidemiological hazard and valid as verification in order to access the Academy’s premises and classes, according to the current Viennese order:

    1. Proof of a negative result from
    a) an antigen test for SARS-CoV-2 from an authorized source, collected during the previous 24 hours
    b) a molecular biological test for SARS-CoV-2 (PCR test), collected during the previous 48 hours

    2. Medical confirmation of an infection with SARS-CoV-2 during the past 180 days, confirmed by molecular biological testing

    3. Proof of vaccination using a centrally approved vaccine against COVID-19:
    a) second vaccination: valid for 360 days provided an interval of 14 days minimum between first and second dose
    b) vaccines for which only one vaccination dose is sufficient: valid from day 22 after vaccination day for 270 days after vaccination day
    c) If a positive molecular biological test for SARS-CoV-2 was available at least 21 days prior to vaccination or evidence of neutralizing antibodies was available prior to vaccination: vaccination valid for 3600 days after vaccination day
    d) Further dose: valid for 360 days provided an interval of 120 days minimum between this dose and a), b) or c)

    4. A segregation certificate, issued for a person who has been infected with SARS-CoV-2 in the last 180 days prior to the intended testing

    5. Proof of neutralizing antibodies, not older than 90 days
  • Persons vaccinated with a vaccine not licensed in the EU and not recognized as 3G verification in Austria (for example, Sputnik or Sinovac) must continue to get tested for the time being. Alternatively, the performance of an antibody test is suggested, valid for 90 days if positive (see point 6). Additionally, please get a booster vaccination with a vaccine licensed in the EU as soon as possible and recommended by a doctor.
  • Wearing FFP2 masks is obligatory wherever spontaneous encounters may happen; masks are not compulsory when seated as long as a minimum distance of 1.5 meters can be maintained.
  • Please ensure that all first-year students and guests entering the Academy buildings (external visitors, suppliers, workers, etc.) are informed in advance that they must carry valid 3G verification.

TEACHING

Classes/lectures:

  • 3G rule
  • please mind the maximum number of persons allowed, defined for the yellow status for each room (maximum occupancy for all lectures: 40 persons)
  • assigned seats (whenever possible), contact tracing, keeping a minimum distance of 1.5 meters, regular ventilation
  • class instructors are responsible for obligatory check of 3G verification at the beginning of each course (recommended: www.greencheck.gv.at)
  • ensure alternative teaching opportunities for students belonging to risk groups

Studios, ateliers, workshops and labs:

  • 3G rule
  • please mind the maximum number of persons allowed, defined for the yellow status for each room
  • contact tracing, FFP2 masks whenever leaving your working place, keeping a minimum distance of 1.5 meters, regular ventilation

Outdoor teaching:

  • 3G rule
  • contact tracing, FFP2 masks and/or keeping a minimum distance of 1.5 meters

OFFICE OPERATIONS

  • Office operations take place in presence during the YELLOW mode.
  • For administrative Staff (AUP) working in open-plan offices, department heads may arrange for single home office days (max. 2 days per person and week) during the YELLOW mode in order to avoid multiple occupancy of small workspaces, provided that the department remains fully functional and can be reached by phone.
  • Members of risk groups concerned about physical presence in their workplace will be enabled to increasingly work from home after consultation with the Rectorate. Persons whose duties are not reasonable or possible in home office will temporarily take on other duties. Please contact Katharina Diewald (k.diewald@akbild.ac.at) and your respective supervisor in CC, enclosing a respective medical certificate.

EVENTS

  • The 3G rule applies to all forms of non-teaching gatherings (indoor and outdoor, regardless of the number of participants): celebrations, exhibition openings, conferences, retreats, etc.
  • registration of participants: according to currently valid legal order, at the moment registration necessary starting from 100 participants
  • FFP2 masks unless seated; no masks whenever seated as long as a minimum distance of 1.5 meters can be maintained
  • For all events, a COVID-19 prevention concept must be developed and implemented and a COVID-19 representative must be appointed. The prevention concept needs to be handed in at the Rectorate for review and approval at least 2 weeks prior to the event
  • all details: see Academy’s COVID-19 Guide
