Kathryn Findlay, Architect, Professor and Chair of Architecture and Environment, University of Dundee, Dundee
Lecture, Monday, 11. December 2006, 7.00 pm
Aula, Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien, Schillerplatz 3, 1010 Wien

Professor Kathryn Findlay:

Following the Truss Wall House, Soft and Hairy House, both recognised as pushing the boundaries of a spatial language, predating the digitally enabled era, Findlay designed and built the Kasahara Amenity Hall from her design research laboratory at the University of Tokyo. (Kathryn Findlay Laboratory).
These projects have developed a material, environmental and structural approach within this new spatial paradigm

Recently her UK based office , Ushida Findlay Architects is designing and building the Doha Villa and Foundation (presented at the 2004 Venice Bienale) and confronting the challenge of construction and fabrication of complex geometries at a large scale.

Findlay has recently established a practice and research unit (Fieldwork) in partnership with the University of Dundee which disseminates research outcomes gained from live practice. She also has a personal chair of Architecture and Environment.
