Ingeborg Erhart, born in Innsbruck in 1971, studied art history in Innsbruck and Vienna. Her doctoral thesis dealt with the subject Vanishing Voids. Motive des Verschwindens in der zeitgenössischen Kunst (Motifs of Disappearance in Contemporary Art). She was artistic director and co-manager of the association of artists Tiroler Künstler*schaft from 2001 and realized about 150 exhibition projects, which she accompanied as a curator and author during her eighteen years in office. From 2004, she served on various advisory boards and juries: she was a member of the Tyrolean cultural advisory board for contemporary art and architecture until 2006, juror for supportive acquisitions on behalf of the Federal Chancellery of the Republic of Austria for art in Tyrol until 2010, and juror for supportive acquisitions on behalf of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture until 2010. She taught as a part-time lecturer at the Institute of Architectural Theory of Innsbruck University from 2013 to 2019, most recently on curatorial practices in the winter term 2018/2019. From 2008, Ingeborg Erhart was responsible for Kunst im öffentlichen Raum Tirol (Art in Public Space Tyrol). She is a board member of the art and architecture school bilding in Innsbruck.

Tasks and functions:

1. Monocratic body for the first-instance enforcement of study-related provisions:

  • Administration of study and examination issues
  • Student admission and collection of tuition fees
  • Examination panels and boards
  • Scholarships and student grants, appointment of granting committees, organization of the allocation process 

2. Budgeting and administration of teaching funds on the basis of the curricula/study plans and of financial coverage

3. Organization of courses taught at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna:

  • Assignment of courses of all categories offered to scientific and artistic staff
  • Implementation of the plan for the advancement of female teachers and lecturers
  • Official responses to leave-of-absence requests submitted by scientific and artistic staff (after the respective approval of the Institute) with a view to sustaining regular teaching and examination processes

4. Evaluation and quality assurance of adopted measures:

  • Drafting and submitting evaluation guidelines to the Senate
  • Carrying out evaluation measures based on these guidelines
  • Implementation of evaluation measures in  teaching

5. Early stage artists/researchers:

  • Promotion of lecturers’ and students’ international mobility
  • Promotion of post-graduate education for MA and PhD candidates (the latter in consultation with the Rector)

6. Preparation of the official response of the Rector’s Office to curricula

7. Support of graduates:

  • Developing a network for graduates
  • Support and help for graduates
  • Taking measures to involve graduates in scientific and artistic research, and developing the accessibility of the fine arts

8. Organization of events:

  • Event planning (exhibitions)

9. Supervisory authority over the Academy’s art collections (Paintings Gallery, Graphic Collection, Sculpture Gallery)

10. Decision-making and signature powers:

  • Sole signing authority up to 30,000 euros in daily business operations
  • Budget sovereignty within the lines of the budget allocated by the Vice-Rector for Finance)
  • Assignments over 30,000 euros signed by the Rector and the Vice-Rector for Finance according to the four eyes principle
