Hybrids, Gnomes and Monsters (not only) in the work of Hieronymus Bosch . Beginning with Bosch’s strange creatures, differing greatly from the picture of an ideal, beautiful nature – often half human, half animal, often beastly recreations – it shows astounding examples of medieval illumination and also disconcerting objects of contemporary art, ultimately raising the question of the boundary of human fantasies of creation and their dealing with nature.
