Continuing last year’s lecture series, students of the Masters programme in Critical Studies are inviting protagonists from the fields of art, critical research, culture and theory to provide insights into their different practices. With focus on artistic and critical inquiries that scrutinise existing commodities, this term’s lectures draw attention to research as a tool to develop alternative and oppositional modes of knowledge production that exist within contemporary complexities.

Metahaven’s practice spans films and video installations, textile works, writing, and design. Engaging in multilayered and multilingual networks of relationalities, they currently focus on forms of poetic cinema offering non-linear narratives and moments of “co-sensuality.” In their presentation, Metahaven will talk about research as an integral part of making, as a storytelling and texturing process that intrinsically resides within artistic practice.
