The Gustav Peichl Award for Architectural Drawing was launched in 2014 on the initiative of the graduates of the Gustav Peichl "Meisterschule" of Architecture with the support of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, the Society of Friends of Fine Arts and private sponsors.

Objective

The Gustav Peichl Award for Architectural Drawing 2020 is intended to award outstanding architectural drawings by all regular students of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

In addition to the graphic representation, the submitted works should convey the vision of a design concept, especially as a sketch. The focus of the drawing should be the visionary and seismographic content, which can lead to other analogue or digital tools.

The submitted works should manifest the power of the creative process and the finest vibrations from the line to the room. The search for the indefinite in advance, the observation of the diverse and the analytical qualities of the author should be expressed.

Award

The award is endowed with EUR 4,000,- . It is the responsibility of the jury to share the prize in justified cases. If no suitable awardee is found, the prize will not be awarded and the prize money will be used for the next award.

Necessary for application

Application period: April, 20 th until May, 28 th 2020

Please submit all documents in one single PDF-file with max. 5 MB and max. 30 pages:

  • Portfolio: Documentation of artistic work: Architectural sketches or drawings with an outstanding creative or experimental character, which in the visionary and research concept relate reflexively to an advanced design stage.
  • Tabular curriculum vitae (CV)

Submissions that do not meet the formal requirements cannot be considered.

The award ceremony will take place as part of the annual closing ceremony in the "Prospekthof" of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
