Ruth Novaczek has made some 35 films and installations since graduating from St Martins School of Art, London in 1986.

She has shown her work at galleries and venues including Berlin Arsenal, LUX London, the Kunsthalle New York, Tate Britain, Stuttgart Kunsthalle, Toyota Museum Japan and in a number of film festivals including Viper Switzerland, Mix NYC, the London Film Festival and Oberhausen Germany.  She has received a number of awards and grants, and was artist in residence at Dartington Hall, Devon UK in 2002, at the Mishkan Omanit, Herzliya in 2008.

She has since been making film, performance and installation work that explores diaspora, gender, humour, sexuality, cinematic language and philosophy. Using found-footage, aphorism and live-action the films are diasporic stand-up, feminist mash-ups, poetic, irreverent musings. She has been a DJ and played in bands, and applies an eclectic musical compositional element to her work.

She has been teaching and guest lecturing for many years, is currently on the faculty of the Transart Institute and is a visiting research fellow at CREAM, University of Westminster where she obtained her doctorate in 2014.

Publications include KIOSK magazine, Oberon magazine, the European Review of History, Jalta, Positionen zur Juedischen Gegenwart, and Next Level. She currently lives and works in London.
