Lecture by Peter Berzobohaty, Tirol, organized by the Institute for Conservation and Restoration and the Austrian Restorers Association (ÖRV). (German language)

The lecture provides an overview of the results of investigations and research on the technology of late antique mosaics. Their formation, development, production technology and distribution are illuminated and discussed. - The lecture will be held in German.

Peter Berzobohaty worked until his retirement as a conservator-restorer of mural painting and architectural surface, with an emphasis on mosaic. He was senior conservator of the international projects for the preservation of the palace mosaic and the mosaics in the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul as well as visiting professor for the restoration of wall painting and architectural surface at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Peter Berzobohaty has been working on the technology of Late Antique and Byzantine mosaics since the 1990s and will publish the results of his research shortly.
