Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien

Newsletter Art and Research, April 2024

Dear colleagues,
dear alumni_ae,

We are very pleased to present a new prize: Prize for Best Research Catalogue Exposition of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. This prize rewards outstanding contributions to the Research Catalogue (i.e. RC Expositions) by (former) employees and students of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. We are looking for published RC contributions from the years 2023 and 2024. The aim of the prize is to promote innovative and experimental publication formats and to make artistic research widely visible internationally. We look forward to receiving numerous submissions and are happy to answer any questions.

We would like to cordially invite you to the Academy's Graduate Conference on 30 April. The Graduate Conference is organised by the Center for Doctoral Studies and this year will feature four exciting presentations by doctoral candidates. We look forward to inspiring presentations and discussions during the event (no registration required).

From autumn 2024, the FWF will transfer the Elise Richter, Elise Richter PEEK and START programmes to the new FWF ASTRA awards and will offer webinars on these career funding programmes in May. If you would still like to submit proposals for the current Elise Richter and Elise Richter PEEK programmes, please contact us as soon as possible via kfs@akbild.ac.at. We will be happy to advise you!

As usual, we have also compiled numerous calls for proposals and competitions. In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the SHIFT Open Call of the City of Vienna, which promotes alternative, artistic practices of decentralised cultural work. We hope that there are interesting opportunities for you.

With best regards from Art | Research | Support,
Michaela Glanz, Teresa Beer, Sabine Priglinger, Paul Reiter, Sophie Schober
