Sofia Boito is a transdisciplinary artist, researcher, and educator. In 2026, she completed her postdoctoral research in Performing Arts at the Institute of Arts of UNICAMP (University of Campinas, Brazil). She holds a PhD (2018) and an MA (2013) in Performing Arts from USP (University of São Paulo, Brazil), where she also worked as a temporary lecturer in the Department of Performing Arts from 2019 to 2021. Interested in issues such as gender-based violence, decolonial feminism, memory, and urban space, Sofia explores, through her artistic practice, research, and teaching, ways of fostering embodied and situated forms of thinking and experience, in which binaries such as art/life, ethics/aesthetics, and body/mind are dissolved. She was an artist-in-residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris) and was part of Room to Bloom (European Alternatives), a network of feminist artists. Her work, spanning different artistic languages and formats, has been presented at venues and institutions including the Museum of Contemporary Art of Bahia (Salvador, Brazil), Théâtre du Châtelet (Paris, France), SESC 24 de Maio (São Paulo, Brazil), Imacelli (Florence, Italy), Festival Santiago AMIL (Santiago, Chile), and Malmö Konstmuseum (Malmö, Sweden). She is currently a member of the Ecologies of Care research group, the Brazilian art collective Palabreria, and the editorial board of the journal Sala Preta. From 2026 to 2028, she will hold an incoming Visiting Professorship in Gender and Space at the Institute for Art Education (IKL), Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, Austria.
