A Discussion of Interfaces into "Augmented Reality"- Methods for Browsing Urban Space and their Conceptual Implications for Architects organized by the Institute for Art and Architecture.

The process and aesthetics of how architecture is developed have changed significantly with the arrival of new media tools like CAD or 3D-scanning devices. But how will it be affected by the arrival of the internet? Will the experience of 21st century urban space start online? Two complementary approaches will be presented to allow for discussion.

On the one hand, the presentation will focus on trends in augmented reality devices for navigating urban space and look into their underlying structures, socially and technically.

On the other hand, the talk will outline the NetzNetz project, an alternative funding model for Digital Arts and Cultures whereby the money is distributed by `parliaments of art´, adaptable procedures that allow for the social fine-tuning between different interests and needs in these fields of cultural production to become visible and decidable while staying open and arguably democratic.
