Joy in Resistance was a perspective the students chose to form three groups with different attitudes towards the use of a gallery space. The three groups are each programming the space of 17(Joy) for one week. “Community”, “Social Dialogue” and “Curated Show” being the different perspectives on how to approach a public moment.
We can be looking forward to events and works in dialogue with each other and in dialogue with audiences inside and outside the gallery space through performance, film screenings, community meetings and exhibited works in the space.
As one of the groups remarks: “Playfulness becomes a subtle act of resistance, a reminder that we are, despite everything, in this together.”
