Mariyam Malik: Anti-racist mediation practices
An anti-racist reflection on educational spaces. A workshop for students, organized by the Studio for Education in the Arts.
The workshop is aimed at teacher training students and links (their own) experiences in university learning spaces with anti-racist teaching practices. We will explore the question of what it takes to enable anti-racist learning/teaching. In addition to insights into theoretical considerations on body, space, and power, there will be practice-oriented opportunities for exchange.
Mariyam Malik currently works at a counseling center for young women and TIN individuals; she also teaches a course at the University of Vienna's Department of Education on anti-racist and gender-reflective youth work. Based on empowerment spaces and her own experiences at universities, Mariyam Malik deals with emancipatory and anti-discriminatory strategies in institutions.
