Scenography for the study year 2022/2023

Admission Examination

Online registration at: from April 1st until April 30 th 2022

The admission examination aims to ascertain whether somebody is sufficiently talented for the central artistic subject.

The examination consists of two parts.

Admission examination WS 2022/23

1st part:

  • Write a short motivation letter: why do you want to study stage design, where is your special interest in theater.
  • Submit a digital portfolio with a selection of your artistic work.
  • The topic of the assignment is called NEARBY

Think about this term, find, or invent, a place and develop a possible space that you design in a model. Approach the topic in your own way by research or also associatively. Attach sketches, photos, collages, etc., of your work steps to the application. Identify or invent one or more people who live in the place you have invented. Write a short text (max. one A4 page) about your work. Here you can comment on your work, write a story or poem.

Candidates eligible for the admission examination will be notified by E-Mail on the 10 th of May 2022.

2nd part:

  • Only for candidates admitted to the 2nd part:
  • From Monday, June 13, 2021, through Wdnesday, June 15, 2022 at the Scenography Department, Lehargasse 8, 3 rd floor, A-1060 Vienna

Only candidates who pass both parts of the exam will be admitted to study at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
