Educational Science

Educational Science (BiWi) is part of every bachelor's and master's program at the IKL and comprises the educational-pedagogical component of the art and design teacher education programs at both bachelor's and master's level.

In the Educational Science courses, students acquire educational and action-oriented pedagogical knowledge and skills. Among other things, they engage with the societal and institutional context of teaching and learning, as well as the possibilities and limits of education. Alongside this theoretical and research-based work, students practice close observation and analysis of pedagogical situations. All courses also aim to critically reflect on students' own experiences and actions.

This theoretical, reflective, and practice-based engagement prepares students to act professionally in pedagogical fields such as schools, and to initiate, design, accompany, and reflect on art- and design-oriented educational processes.
