Art and Time | Post-digital Art

The studio of Post-digital Art explores the technological conditions under which art is created today. “Post-digital” does not signify a break with the digital, but rather its normalization: the digital is no longer an exception, but rather the environment in which we live, work, and create images. The question is not what a technology can do, but what it does—to bodies, to knowledge, and to power relations.

The studio is open to all artistic practices, ranging from film, photography, installation, painting, performance, and sculpture to AI-based methods. The post-digital perspective comes into play wherever it serves the work at hand.

The focus is on one-on-one discussions and small groups, supplemented by workshops, guest speakers, and field trips.

Algorithmic systems are not neutral; they reproduce the power dynamics of their training data. The studio therefore operates according to the principle of appropriation rather than dependence, preferring to use open-source tools and models, and maintaining a critical, anti-discriminatory perspective on the systems we use. The goal is for students to understand the technological conditions of their own work and to act within them in a capable, critical, and artistic manner.

The studio works closely with the Research Cluster Digital Cultures.
