How to Exist as an Artist in a World of Changes? - Theory for Art & Sustainability

In a world of constant change, art is also facing new questions: How can we work in a resource-efficient way? What role does art play in communicating sustainability? Where are sustainable approaches and methods already being successfully implemented—and where are they not? This workshop invites participants to examine materials, methods, and content critically and develop alternative work approaches. Using theoretical ideas and practical examples, we will work together to create and discuss ways of making artistic practice more sustainable and responsible—not as a restriction, but as an expansion of the possibilities for expression. As part of the workshop, there will be a practical semester exercise, the results of which will be presented by the students at the end of the semester. There will also be the possibility to bring your own artistic work and individual questions and interests into the discussion. This workshop also serves as inspiration for the further development of your projects, which can be implemented as part of the course “How to Exist as an Artist in a World of Changes? - Art and Sustainability in Practice.”
