Category: Measures to Promote Mobility for Underrepresented Student Groups
1st Place: Thinking Globally about Art – Strengthening Mobility for Underrepresented Groups: Academy of Fine Arts Vienna
A mobility program for art students that enables international experiences through short-term programs worldwide, targeted support, and inclusive structures for underrepresented groups. The aim of this best practice example is to make international mobility more inclusive and, in particular, to facilitate access to study abroad opportunities for underrepresented student groups – such as working students, students with caregiving responsibilities, chronic illnesses, or financial barriers. The project aligns directly with the Academy's 2024–2028 internationalization strategy, which defines global and decolonial awareness, a welcoming culture, and an international teaching and learning environment as strategic goals. Overall, the initiative demonstrates that inclusive short-term mobility programs can change international mobility patterns in the long term and thus contribute to equitable and sustainable internationalization.
