    Fashions and Styles on the Move

    An ongoing collaboration on decolonization, healing textile practices, and social justice in fashion and design with the University of Namibia and the University of Johannesburg.

    The Fashion and Styles department at the IKL of the Academy of Fine Arts, the Department of Humanities and Arts/ Fashion Design at the University of Namibia, and the Department of Fashion Design at the Faculty of Arts, Design, and Architecture at the University of Johannesburg launched a collaboration in spring 2023 under the banner “Decolonizing Fashion Research, Textile Healing, and Social Justice” with the support of the Academy's International Office and the EU program ERASMUS+ International Credit Mobility.

    On Tuesday, 27th and Wednesday, 28th January 2026, workshops were held for the AHS Kenyongasse, a cooperation school of the Institute for Education in the Arts, in the workshops of Karl-Schweighofer-Gasse.

  • AAPS | Conference for Advancing the Participatory Sciences 2026

    The "Conference for Advancing the Participatory Sciences" will be held online 26–29 May 2026. Organized by the  Association for Advancing Participatory Sciences, it convenes researchers, moderators and project leaders for four online conference days. The event presents leading voices from the participatory sciences and aims to enable dynamics discussions.

    Eine surrealistische Fotocollage mit mehreren überlagerten Elementen und einem weißen Gitternetz. Im Zentrum steht ein weißer Plastikstuhl im Gartenstuhl-Stil auf einem beigen Betonboden. Der Boden zeigt eine große, unregelmäßige Risslinie. Im unteren Bildbereich erscheinen verschwommen bunte, kreisförmige Bokeh-Lichteffekte in Gelb, Türkis und Orange, die wie leuchtende Orbs wirken.
Rechts im Bild befindet sich ein blaues, organisch geformtes Element, das an eine Pfütze oder abstrakte Form erinnert, mit einer auffälligen orangefarbenen Kontur. Links oben sind Teile einer transparenten oder reflektierenden Oberfläche sichtbar. Das gesamte Bild ist von einem feinen, geometrischen weißen Gitter überzogen, das der Komposition eine strukturierte, analytische Ebene verleiht.
Die Atmosphäre wirkt wie eine künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit Raum, Schatten und fragmentierter Realität.
