Pre-Launch of the publication Plant Space: Territories, Architectures and Technologies of the Vegetal at Belgrade International Architecture Week
Pre-launch of the publication Plant Space (Sternberg Press, Publication Series of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna) at Belgrade International Architecture Week within the Unfolding Materiality workshop, with Michelle Howard and Adam Hudec.
As part of the Unfolding Materiality workshop at BINA Belgrade, a pre-launch event of Plant Space: Territories, Architectures and Technologies of the Vegetal (Sternberg Press, Academy series) co-edited by Michelle Howard, Adam Hudec and Carmen Lael Hines will take place on May 4, 2026, within the opening of the pavilion installation.
The workshop, developed as a collective process of material experimentation, brings together students and educators from Vienna, Bratislava, and Belgrade to construct a temporary spatial structure made of wool threads. The installation unfolds through continuous transformation, linking material practice with questions of public space, circularity, and collective action.
Embedded in this evolving environment, the pre-launch of Plant Space introduces a publication that rethinks plants as active agents in shaping architectural, technological, and territorial systems. Co-editors Michelle Howard and Adam Hudec will present the conceptual framework of the book, reflecting on vegetal life as a driver of spatial thinking and as a critical lens through which architecture can be reimagined beyond anthropocentric paradigms.
