THE STRUGGLE IS UNREAL! Mit erlebbaren Gedankenexperimenten aus der Imaginations-Krise
Lecture by Alexandra Fruhstorfer as part of the lecture series Lectures For Future, hosted by Art and Image | Drawing.
While global politics seem to be falling apart, climate anxiety holds us hostage more than ever. In the desperate attempt to maintain a supposedly desirable status quo, there is often only room for cosmetic adjustments. The multiple crises of our time leave us in a state of repair, where we hardly dare to imagine genuine alternatives. Often, we simply lack the space for imagination. But what if?
This lecture demonstrates how design and futures research can use creative methods to open up new imaginative spaces beyond familiar belief systems. Approaches such as Speculative Design and Experiential Futuring can bring radical thought experiments to life — making new ideas and supposed ideals not only accessible, but also open for discussion.
