SUCK MY CODE!
The group exhibition SUCK MY CODE! opens up a glitchy experiential space in which digital physicality is negotiated in the tension between capitalization and sexualization.
Swallow or spit. In the midst of cannibalistic capitalism, FLINTA* bodies are increasingly contested in the digital context: either they are sexualized and commercialized – or their visibility is devalued. The group exhibition artistically explores these boundary struggles surrounding body, sexuality, and gender.
"Suck" refers in several respects to the tension between physical exploitation and emancipation, which is both fluid and perpetuated in the digital realm. Contrary to the cyberfeminist hopes of the 1990s, no discrimination-free, genderless space emerged. Instead, AI-based deep fakes intensify virtual violence against individuals perceived as female, while predominantly male-dominated tech giants blur the boundaries of factuality.
SUCK MY CODE! spans a timeline beginning with 20th-century net art to the immediate present. The works on display recode body images and practices to imagine alternative worlds. In doing so, they open up a glitchy experiential space to challenge ambiguous power relations on the internet.
Curated by Rosanna Marie Pondorf and Mareike Schwarz, with contributions from the artists Anna Ehrenstein & House of Tupamaras, Anan Fries, Anja Lekavski & Rosanna Marie Pondorf, Christiane Peschek, Patrícia J. Reis, Sophie Thun, RA Walden, and VNS Matrix.

Curator's tour SUCK MY CODE! Vienna Art Week
In keeping with this year's theme of Vienna Art Week 2025, "Learning Systems," we'll examine the knowledge and economic systems surrounding selected works of art. Together, we want to ask ourselves which ideas about physicality in the digital space we want to (un)learn.
