Universität Leiden | CINETS 2026: Crimmigration in an Age of Authoritarian Drift
CINETS is a bi-annual conference and will be hosted 5 to 7 July, 2026 at the University of Leiden, Netherlands. It deals with the fusion of criminal law and immigration (crimmigation) which has gained material and symbolic importance.
The conference explores how crimmigration operates as a tool of governance and political performance in democratic, hybrid, and authoritarian settings.
Next to comparative case studies and legal analyses, artistic research and artistic output such as photography, installations or documentary films are explicitly encouraged.
You can submit individual papers, panel proposals and posters. For the submission of artistic output, the organization asks for a short description of the work and how it is best showcased.
