    The Federal Ministry for Housing, Art, Culture, Media and Sports (BMWKMS) offers funding in the field of film. Among others, funding is awarded for project development as well as production of avant-garde and experimental films as well as animation, documentary and feature films.

  • Literar-Mechana | Dissertation Completion Fellowship

    Literar-Mechana awards up to thirty scholarships annually to highly qualified scholars from all disciplines to enable them to complete their dissertation projects.

    Each year, Literar-Mechana awards up to two translators with project grants. Translations into German are given priority.

  • BMWKMS | State Grants Fine Arts, Photography, and Media Art 2027

    The "Staatsstipendien" (State grants) represent a recognition of outstanding artistic achievements to date and serve to promote further artistic creation. The scholarships are awarded to artists working on an extensive artistic project in the specified fields (visual arts, photography, and media art) whose work is distinguished by a particular degree of originality and an exceptional innovative component.

    A five-member jury will award three prizes, each worth 1,000 euros with support from WIENWOCHE and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, among others.

  • Open Call of the Academy | Prize for Best Research Catalogue Exposition 2025/2026

    This prize rewards outstanding contributions to the Research Catalogue (i.e. RC Expositions) by staff and students of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. We are looking for published RC contributions from the years 2025 and 2026.

  • Open Call of the Academy | Art in Public Space Competition Akbild x Bank Austria

    The competition is aimed at graduates from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. The winning project will receive prize money of 20,000 euros and will be installed for a period of about one year at the northwestern corner of Karlsplatz (on the triangular traffic island between Friedrichstraße and Operngasse).

  • Volkswagen Stiftung | NEXT – "Dual Use" of Ideas and Concepts from the Humanities and Social Sciences

    Concepts from the humanities and social sciences often have an impact far beyond academia. But what happens when theories and conceptual frameworks are decontextualised and used for purposes other than those originally intended? Through this call for proposals, the Foundation supports research on such 'dual use' effects and explores how the transfer of ideas from academia into political and ideological contexts takes place.

  • OeAD | Africa-UniNet 7th Call

    Africa-UniNet aims to facilitate and strengthen existing and new inter- and transdisciplinary research cooperation between Austria and African countries. Africa-UniNet promotes excellent research based on the mutual exchange of knowledge. This call is only open to internal academy researchers, as the cooperative research projects will run through the institution.
