Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava | 18th SAR International Conference on Artistic Research
The 18th SAR International Conference on Artistic Research, titled “Beyond the Familiar”, will take place 21–23 April 2027 at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU), Slovakia. The call for contributions is open until 25 November 2026.
The conference asks how the familiar is shaped by personal experience, education and social and cultural contexts. It also invites artistic researchers to examine the familiar languages, methods and institutions of their own field.
Contributions
Artists, artistic researchers, scholars, educators and practitioners across disciplines and artistic fields are invited to submit proposals. The conference welcomes artistic research as well as critical and reflective contributions on artistic research and its wider contexts.

Proposals may combine formats or suggest other ways of presenting and sharing research.
Submission
The deadline for submissions is 25 November 2026. Applicants will be notified of acceptance on 18 January 2027.
