The objective of Doctoral Networks is to implement doctoral programmes by partnerships of organisations from different sectors across Europe and beyond to train highly skilled doctoral candidates, stimulate their creativity, enhance their innovation capacities and boost their employability in the long term.

Doctoral Networks offer three funding modalities:

  • Standard Doctoral Networks: doctoral programmes promoting international, interdisciplinary and intersectoral cooperation, developing research-related and transferable skills, and strengthening career prospects within and outside academia.
  • Industrial Doctoral Networks: doctoral programmes providing experience outside academia, particularly in industry and business, with joint supervision by academic and non-academic partners.
  • Joint Doctoral Networks: integrated doctoral programmes leading to joint or multiple doctoral degrees, with joint arrangements for recruitment, admission, supervision and evaluation.

Selected networks expose researchers to the academic and non-academic sectors, and offer them research training, as well as transferable skills and competences relevant for innovation and their long-term employability.

Participating institutions receive funding to develop excellent doctoral programmes allowing them to attract talent, boost their global visibility and foster cooperation with other sectors and countries.

The MSCA are open to all domains of research and innovation, chosen freely by the applicants, and have a strong focus on interdisciplinary, international and intersectoral cooperation.

Further information and application details are available on the MSCA website.
