    Award winners 2024/25

    For the academic year 2024/25, the Academy will award the following prizes to distinguished graduates and students:

  • Horizon Europe | ERC Starting Grant 2026

    The ERC Starting Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they are starting their own independent research team or programme. Principal Investigators must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition, and feasibility of their research proposal.

  • Ambivalences of Modernity. The Architect and City Planner Roland Rainer Between Dictatorship and Democracy.

    How did modernist architecture interact with political systems? And how can biographical gaps in architectural archives be explained and filled? Taking Roland Rainer as an example, both of these questions were the subject of investigation in an FWF research project. This symposium presents a discussion of the results of this cooperation between the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the Architekturzentrum Wien.

    Congratulations: Mayra Jenzer Azevedo, Catherine Bouvier and Rehema Chachage awarded for their theses

    The Award for Scientific Works 2024/25 is awarded to Mayra Jenzer Azevedo for their master thesis (MA in Critical Studies). The Honorary Award goes to Catherine Bouvier (Conservation-Restauration) and Rehema Seithy Chachage (PhD in Practice) for their dissertations. Congratulations!

  • Eighty Years Later: NS remembrance work in artistic practice and mediation today

    A joint event of OeAD (ERINNERN:AT program, department of cultural education with schools), the Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Graz, and the Department of Education in the Arts at the Institute for Education in the Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
