Lecture by Günter Schönberger | Bildrecht. An event of the alumni club.

Artists create works that are protected by copyright. Günter Schönberger, CEO of Bildrecht, will provide first-hand insights on how to best safeguard these rights and the resulting financial claims. He will explain how copyright protection can be reconciled with artists’ desire for widespread visibility of their works, and why a collective solidarity among all visual creators is crucial—particularly in the context of social media, the metaverse, streaming platforms, and artificial intelligence.

The lecture will be held in German, but questions may also be asked in English.

About Bildrecht

Bildrecht is Austria’s collecting society for all visual creators. It represents the copyright interests of over 9,000 artists in Austria, advocating for fair remuneration on their behalf with public and private entities. For its members, Bildrecht manages collective rights in Austria and internationally, especially those that cannot be enforced individually due to legal constraints. By doing so, Bildrecht ensures a fair balance of interests between artists and their partners in cultural institutions and the business sector.
