Hana O. O. Haas, (she/her), * in Slovenia, is an art historian, independent curator, and writer based in Vienna. From 2019 to 2023, she served as Director of the ULAY Foundation (Amsterdam/Ljubljana), where she initiated and led numerous curatorial, scholarly, and publishing projects dedicated to the artist’s estate. During this time, she co-curated the major retrospective ULAY WAS HERE at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (2020–21).
Over the past years, she has curated numerous exhibitions across institutional, commercial, and independent contexts, including projects at the Heidi Horten Collection (Vienna, 2026), Salzburger Kunstverein (Salzburg, 2024–25), SOPHIE TAPPEINER (Vienna, 2023), Pech (Vienna, 2023), HOW Art Museum (Shanghai, 2022–23), and as part of Curated by Festival at Lombardi—Kargl (Vienna, 2022).
Hana O. O. Haas writes regularly for ARTFORUM, and her texts have also appeared in Frieze, ArtReview, and other international publications. In 2023, she held a guest professorship at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where she is currently completing her PhD. Her doctoral research investigates artistic and institutional responses to personal and societal crises, with a particular focus on the role of museums and curatorial practice in times of uncertainty.
