Sergey Harutoonian | Curator Österreichische Galerie Belvedere

Sergey Harutoonian is an art historian with a focus on art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Since June 2022 he has been curator for contemporary art at the Austrian Gallery Belvedere, where he deals with forms of digital change, questions of identity, and contemporary culture. At the Belvedere he curated the exhibitions Tamuna Sirbiladze: Not Cool but Compelling (2024) Amoako Boafo: Proper Love (2024) and Ashley Hans Scheirl: In & Out of Painting* (2025). From 2018 to 2022 he curated the exhibition program of the Kunstverein Hannover, where he served as interim director in 2022. In Hanover, he curated exhibitions such as Artistic Intelligence (2019), Beyond the Black Atlantic (2020), and Kameelah Janan Rasheed (2022). Previous positions include MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst, Städel Museum, Deutsche Bank Collection, and Deutsche Börse Art Collection in Frankfurt am Main.
