Alma Bektas | Bmkös

Alma Bektas is mentee of Eva Fischer

Alma Bektas (*1992, Bosnia and Herzegovina) is an artist and designer who transforms nature into art and positions herself as a mediator between the wild and the cultivated, the organic and the constructed. She holds a degree in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna.

In her floral sculptures, Alma integrates qualities such as resilience, defiance, protection, and beauty. Often perceived as problematic weeds, she finds a unique attraction in these plants, which embody nature's intricate complexities. Her work emphasizes the strength and resilience of flowers and ranges from botanical installations and floral design to scenography and costumes.

These works have been presented in galleries, museums, and performing arts contexts, including MAK Vienna, ImPulsTanz, Vienna Design Week, Theater Werk X am Petersplatz, Wiener Festwochen, the Austrian Museum of Folk Life and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum), ACUD Gallery Berlin, and the Museum of Modern Urban Architecture Vilnius, among others.
