Tubi Malcharzik

Tubi Malcharzik is mentee of Eva Kovač

Tubi Malcharzik (they/them) works as an artist, performer, dramaturg, and DJ, drawing on biographical material, queer theory, and critical practice. In performances, video works, and lectures, they explore states of the unbinary – both in relation to gender and sexuality and within the context of national borders – and engage with queer memory and history, as well as seemingly impossible duets.

They work both in solo projects (PASKUDNIK, COMEBACK) and in collective and collaborative structures (voice messages about śląsking, Sparks to Uranus, Holding Water). Their works have been shown at brut Wien, Schwankhalle Bremen, KVOST Berlin, Kunsthalle Osnabrück, HAU Berlin, Kunsthalle Exnergasse, UNIVERSEN Hannover, LOFFT – Das Theater Leipzig, Pathos Theater München, and Pawilon Poznań.

Since 2022, they have been part of Grupa Mauczka, a collaborative collective focusing on the historical border region of Górny Śląsk*Upper Silesia. Drawing on their own family biografies, the group traces Polish-German migration histories from a queer perspective and engages in audio essays, texts, and curatorial projects with Śląsking – a practice that resists linguistic and nationalizing impositions. Their group works have been exhibited at PACT Zollverein (Essen), Fuchsbau Festival Hannover, and Urbane Künste Ruhr.

Currently, Malcharzik is working with Mayra Azevedo Jenzer on riverbanks as sites and living archives of trans* and non-binary history through performative Fluxus strategies.
