Elena Kristofor
Elena Kristofor is mentee of Sophie Haslinger
Elena Kristofor is a visual artist born and raised in Ukraine and now living in Vienna, who works with photography, installations, and site-specific interventions. Her work deals with human inscriptions in the landscape and addresses themes of foreignness, threat, displacement, and identity.
Kristofor studied art and photography at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and architecture at the Vienna University of Technology. She combines photography, drawing, and sculptural elements to articulate deeply personal reflections on perception and space.
Selected exhibitions include Vertical Horizon, Kyiv Biennial, Lentos, Linz (2025); Touch Nature, Museum of Contemporary Art Skopje (2025), In Translation – The Contexts of Nature, the Sea World Culture & Arts Center, Shenzhen (2022); With View to the Sea, the Museum of Western and Eastern Art, Odesa (2019); The Censored Exhibition, Photo City, Copenhagen (2018); and Only Human, the Austrian Cultural Forum London (2017).
Most recently, she was awarded the Austrian Art Alumni Award 2025.
