Sophie Hammer lives and works in Vienna and Zurich. She studied Experimental Art at the University of Arts Linz and Sculpture and Spatial Strategies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
In her practice, she explores the (dys)functionality of objects within the field of tension between design and art. She explores shifts in their status that arise through their circulation across different physical and social spaces, as well as various systems of value.
Her work has been shown at Raum D – Museumsquartier Wien, Landesgalerie Linz, and Galerie 5020 Salzburg, and was awarded the Soroptimist Artist Prize.
