In Search of the Golden Light | The Dutch painters in Italy

Since the Renaissance, artists from northern Europe had cast their eyeslongingly towards Italy, the land of Antiquity, warmth and goldenlight. Many Dutch and Flemish painters who made their way southwards inthe 17th century returned home again with sun-drenched landscapes andpicturesque views of the Eternal City which proved immensely popular.
Thisexhibition showcases around a hundred superb works deriving from the Picture Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, from theholdings of its cooperation partner, the Liechtenstein Museum, as wellas from other major European collections – a feast for the eyes inwintry Vienna!
